My name is Susan Sligar and my husband of 20 years is Larry Sligar. We are the artists and owners of Silver Glass Art and we are fortunate to work from our in-home studio located in the Pacific Northwest.
"Silver Glass Art" comes from the two main components, "silver" and "glass" in our "art". We share a love of nature, a desire to be creative, and an interest in shapes, forms and textures, and what color does to characterize them. Unless imagination fails, or desire leaves, what can be created in lampwork and jewelry is without end.
I've been designing, making and selling jewelry locally and on the west coast for twelve years. Creating something by-hand is immensely gratifying to me, and when my jewelry inspires excitement and makes the individual feel good when wearing it, the reward is greater still.
I love what age does to characterize materials like wood, pottery, paint and plaster, metals and glass, and I'm attracted to simplicity in design, decor and clothing. These attractions influence every piece I make.

Larry has a background in architecture, building, drawing, illustration, carving and inventing. He's used his hands to build and create many things. From a set of plans, he built a 210 mph, four-place, state-of-the-art airplane.
Through an interest in jewelry making techniques, he discovered lampwork. He is especially interested in the versatility of glass in creating forms and textures, and in experimenting with other materials that affect the colors and textures of glass. Cindy Jenkins book, "Making Glass Beads", was his first step toward lampwork.
He has taken classes locally, and in December 2007, he attended a two day class taught by Michael Barley; gifted artist, nice person and great teacher. After two years at the torch, he sells his beads on ebay, locally and on the west coast, and is answering calls of entry for exhibits.
